The drawbacks are increased battery weight (though only .2 lbs) and a heavier downtube as well as some flex when you really pedal hard and maneuver the steering… it’s almost like crack the whip. How did you connect the trailer Cris? They are made well, have a solid warranty and come with relaxed bars, comfort saddles and fenders, lights and racks for utility around town. Cycling through assist levels is very easy using the button pad and you can literally click through without taking your hand off the grip and without even looking down. I’ve had the Felt Nine E since they came out with it nearly, and I have really enjoyed this bike. There are a lot of little highlights for me with this bike but most of it is stuff that a normal mountain biker would expect… In a sense it’s just bringing that level of quality to an ebike platform and the price is comparable to a higher end build, though you might expect carbon fiber. Hope this helps and keeps your bike one the road! I can’t say for sure but I’d guess that most bikes do have the bottle cage bosses. Felt’s designs are carefully calibrated and crafted in the United States and then produced, for cost purposes, in Asia. Keep sharing your great reviews. Not quite as nice a torque sensor as on the Elby, but this one has suspension and is quite a bit cheaper. It provides just enough space that a bottle cage mount is present on the seat tube which isn’t the case for many ebikes with mid-batteries. When I wear this battery out, I hope there will be a higher capacity one available. Performance level full suspension electric bike with 650b wheelset and Bosch mid-drive motor. Reviews, ratings, specifications, weight, price and more for the 2020 Felt Redemption 30 E-Bike The VERZA-e is a long-lasting transportation tool: a true alternative to driving. In the cold I’ve taken the charger along so I can recharge at work, though I think I’ll be able to handle 70 miles round trip on a single charge in warmer weather. The NINEe has seen some pretty cold weather, and I can report that extreme cold definitely affects battery life… I fabricated a neoprene wrap for insulation, which really helps. Not as heavy as other cargo e-bikes in part because of the Shimano drive system,…... A surprisingly light weight electric cargo bike with an abundance of rack and tie down mounting points for use with a myriad of accessories. Written Review The Felt NINEe is the lightest weight, stiffest, highest quality electric 29er I’ve tested to date. Compared with its sister bike, the SPORTe Step-Thru, it’s heavier and less stiff but also easier to approach and much more feature rich; delivering lights, fenders and a sturdy rear rack. Small point: there are no bottle cage bosses(i.e. This kind of precision sounds great on paper and it also truly delivers in practice. This lets you plan rides and avoid getting far, far from the parking lot on a trail ride only to run out of juice half way home. I was worried about the brown colour, but it looks understated and classy and the Felt logos on the frame, saddle and finishing kit are nice too. I looked at a bunch of bikes and researched online quite a bit (watched many of your reviews!) The odometer will roll past 2000 miles during tomorrows ride into the office. The real beauty is just how light this thing is overall for being electric and that the drive system and battery are low, center-mounted and sophisticated. The pack can be charged on or off the bike and includes a solid metal core lock (by ABUS) for security. Weighing in at ~38 pounds (varying by size) it’s not a burden to lift up stairs or hazardous trail points such as drops or rivers. The motor assisting you is a 350 watt geared mid-drive design from Bosch. Thanks again for the great reviews you do Court. Do you know which Racing Ralph version is used: Snakeskin, Liteskin, Double Defense? You get a stiff, relatively light weight aluminum alloy frame (though not as light as their NINEe hardtail) with efficient narrow tires mounted on a 700c medium-dish rim. Deep step-thru frame design for easy mounting, available in four sizes for excellent fit, comfortable ergonomic grips and suspension fork with lockout. This price range is really crowded, and I think Felt makes a very good case with the Nine Trail. It performs wonderfully on trails, mountainous terrain and urban environments thanks to the large efficient wheels, remote suspension lockout and rear rack bosses. Deep step-thru frame design for easy mounting, available in four sizes for excellent fit, comfortable ergonomic grips and suspension fork with lockout, Great utility features including quick release front and rear, a welded rear carry rack (capable of up to 55 lb load), full length fenders and partial chain guard, integrated LED lights and a premium cafe lock, Industry leading drive system from Bosch, responsive hydraulic disc brakes, excellent warranty... rear heavy design to accommodate deep-step with less rigid frame, Lifetime Frame, 2 Year Drivetrain and Electronics, X-Small 44 cm (Head Angle 71 mm, Seat Angle 75 mm, Top Tube Horizontal 555 mm, Head Tube Length 115 mm, Seat Tube Center to Top 440 mm, Bottom Bracket Drop 67 mm, Chain Stay 470 mm, Wheelbase 1087 mm, Standover 420 mm, Rake 41.7 mm, Reach 393 mm, Stack 605 mm), Small 48 cm (Head Angle 71 mm, Seat Angle 75 mm, Top Tube Horizontal 570 mm, Head Tube Length 115 mm, Seat Tube Center to Top 480 mm, Bottom Bracket Drop 67 mm, Chain Stay 470 mm, Wheelbase 1102 mm, Standover 420 mm, Rake 41.7 mm, Reach 408 mm, Stack 605 mm), Medium 52 cm (Head Angle 71 mm, Seat Angle 74 mm, Top Tube Horizontal 585 mm, Head Tube Length 115 mm, Seat Tube Center to Top 520 mm, Bottom Bracket Drop 67 mm, Chain Stay 470 mm, Wheelbase 1106 mm, Standover 420 mm, Rake 41.7 mm, Reach 411 mm, Stack 605 mm), Large 56 cm (Head Angle 71 mm, Seat Angle 74 mm, Top Tube Horizontal 600 mm, Head Tube Length 115 mm, Seat Tube Center to Top 560 mm, Bottom Bracket Drop 67 mm, Chain Stay 470 mm, Wheelbase 1121 mm, Standover 420 mm, Rake 41.7 mm, Reach 426 mm, Stack 605 mm), SR Suntour SF14-NCX-D DS LO CTS Suspension with 63 mm Travel, Tapered Steerer, Hydraulic Lockout, Coil Spring with Preload Adjustment, Fender Bosses, Rear Rack Mounting Plate and Bosses, Speed 1x10 Shimano Deore RD-M610-SGS Shadow: Long Cage, CS-HG 62 Cassette, 11-32T, Shimano Deore SL-M610 Rapid Fire on Right Bar, VP-615 Felt Design, Low Profile Body, Polypropylene Cage and Body, Taper Head Cr-Mo Axle, Felt VERZAe Design 3D-Forged Aluminum with 4-Bolt Handlebar Clamp, Double Butted Aluminum, Trekking Style Bar: Ø31.8 mm, 30° Sweep, XS/SM = 660 mm, MD/LG = 680 mm, Magura MT 2 Hydraulic Disc with 160 mm Rotors, 6-Bolt Rotors, Magura MT2 Levers, Felt Ergo Grip Dual-Density Kraton Rubber, Wing Style, Comfort Gel, Unisex Fit with Dual Density Base, Alexrims MD19 Double-Wall Aluminum, Single Eyelets, Double Butted Stainless Steel, 2.0 x 1.8 mm, Extended Chain Cover, Standwell KSA 40 Style Kickstand on Rear Dropout Mount, B&M Lumotec IQ Eyc DC 50Lux Headlight, B&M Custom Rack Fit Rearlight, Linetec ABUS Amparo Frame Lock (Single Key System for Battery Lock), Speed, 4 Assist Levels, Battery Voltage, Odometer, Estimated Range, Clock, Max Speed, Average Speed, Trip Time, (Combined Torque, Cadence and Speed), (Eco 50%, Tour 120%, Sport 190%, Turbo 275%), Current Felt eBikes on ebay: Redemption E50, Felt Sport-E Bosch Vibrations around 13mph issue. A stylish fat tire electric bike with unique camouflage paint job, stylish Old Man Mountain cargo racks and integrated Motion Stella 300 headlight. The Felt VERZAe delivers comfort and utility at a reasonable price (considering it uses the high-end Bosch drive system). The centerdrive mounting position of this thing keeps weight low and center but might expose the casing to more trauma on rocky or wooded trails. I’ll post back at the end of the year when I will have logged over 15k miles. All of the motor and battery weight is low and center, the front and rear wheels offer quick release and the battery is removable so transport, maintenance and even riding in non-electric mode is a breeze. The upside of aluminum here is strength, likely required for the battery and motor system weight and force but the downside is vibration and weight. One little extra feature on the display panel is a Micro USB charging port at the top right corner which can be used to update firmware for the display or charge your electronic devices (like GPS, iPods and other portable electronics). In my experience, the rear wheel will begin to slip before the motor even gets close to giving up (as long as you’re pedaling along). I’m glad the Felt Verza-e has been working well for you and that the Bosch motor is strong enough and efficient enough. 42 1.125" - 1.5" Integrated, ACB Water Sealed Bearings, Felt Tornado Aluminum Top Cap, Custom 1 x 7.8 mm Curved, 3 x 5 mm Straight Washers, Felt MTB SL Design 3D-Forged Aluminum with 4-Bolt Handlebar Clamp, 1-1/8" Threadless: 31.8 mm Handlebar, 7° Rise, Black CrMo Hardware XS = 70 mm, SM/MD = 80 mm, LG = 90 mm, XL = 100 mm, Felt MTB 6061 Butted Aluminum Riser: 31.8 mm, 15 mm Rise x 9° Sweep, 720 mm Width, Shimano Hydraulic Disc with 180 mm Front Rotor and 160 mm Rear Rotor, Ice Tech Front Pads, Shimano BL-M615 Levers, Felt XC Trail Single Aluminum Clamp Lock-On, Wing-Style, WTB Silverado Race with DNAX Padding and CrMo Rails, Felt 2-Bolt Micro-Adjust Butted 6061 Aluminum, KMC X10 Chain, Custom Felt Internally Routed Shift Cables with CNC Aluminum Ferrules, Speed, 4 Assist Levels, Battery Voltage, Odometer, Estimated Range, Clock, Max Speed, Average Speed, Trip Time, Independent Button Pad with Tactile Feedback, (Combined Torque, Cadence and Speed), (Eco 50%, Tour 120%, Sport 190%, Turbo 275%), Current Felt eBikes on ebay: Redemption E50, Felt Sport-E Bosch Vibrations around 13mph issue. Can the h/bars be adjusted? I’ll keep an eye out for this one for sure! Hi Taylor! I would have liked a bottle cage mounting point on the seat tube or downtube but this might have compromised frame integrity and thanks to the beautiful (and standard-sized) rear rack, there should be plenty of cargo options to choose from. It mounts directly to the downtube and is so narrow that it won’t touch your legs when pedaling or get in the way. Neat cafe-lock for those quick “in and out” moments at the store, it uses the same key as the battery pack and the key is designed to stay locked into the cafe lock until you activate it so you always have the key! The whole thing is welded to the main frame and it’s also painted to match, it’s very secure feeling and professional looking and there are two extra reflectors at the rear as well as reflective sidewall stripes on the tires so cars shouldn’t have a problem seeing you at night. I’ve weighed this pack as well as the more common mid-frame pack (seen on the SPORTe and most other Felt ebikes) and this one seems slightly heavier at ~5.7 lbs. I would like to add a sprung seat post. Won’t really know if it will work until I set it all up. Great race bike that won't leave you feeling completely shattered after a couple hours in the saddle. You should be able to find one at any local Bosch ebike dealer or possibly get one mailed from a national shop if you don’t have a local dealer. So I’m getting about 45+ miles per charge. Felt is definitely a high-performance brand, know for race-winning bicycle designs. I tested other Felt bikes in my price range and this was by far the best. The brakes are also hydraulic so they can overpower the motor pretty well on most assist levels and in most situations. I love that the display is removable in case you’re locking up in a crowded space or leaving the bike outside in glaring sun. It is really fun to ride and no squeaks on mine. I hope it continues well and you have lots of fun rides in the future :) I realize it’s weird to see this braking cutoff feature on some ebikes and not others, I try to list it as a feature but many bikes these days are forgoing it altogether based on the new fancier motors. Just a great bike, all around. Doing this, the bike would weigh ~30 pounds depending on frame size… that’s about 5 pounds heavier than comparable aluminum alloy hardtails. Considering all of the extra bells and whistles on this bike (literally, you get a bell), it’s a fabulous deal. So I am commuting around 150 miles a week, so far it performed well, but not flawless. Alternatively, if you wanted to save money and get something that’s purpose built for relaxed riding then I’d recommend one of the Easy Motion city bikes like the Evo City or Evo Street which are ~$3k. All in all – the bike feels solid, handles very well, will go a long way on a single charge, and has presented absolutely no problems – a great ride! I ask because I’ve been looking at trailers myself and sometimes ebikes are a bit trickier to connect, but since this is a mid-drive it’s probably not so bad :).
